I am very impressed by Nexstitch, which provides a number of free crochet instructional videos for basic and fancy stitches.
(pattern from Marjorie)
I created this little sheep from a pattern I found on craftster. He's not quite as cute as the original - but I am fond of him anyway :D
This tiara was created using clear sead beads and very thin purple wire. A requirement here was finding wire that could be threaded twice through the same bead. You make it in a zigzag pattern.
This bracelet was designed in imitation of pink seafan coral. It uses sead beads to create the joined beaded effect of some coral types. To create the coral strands I used this technique shown on the right. The clasp was joined with the same technique, using small crimp beads threaded back through the blue beads to secure the ends of the thread. Design image available here
I created this bracelet about a year ago when I was thinking of the white houses with bright blue doors of Mykonos. The houses are set against a sky which is matches the blue of the doors and balconies.
I designed the pattern as I went along, but it turned out to include some open triangle shapes that resemble swimming fish in a line. The clasp is made up of a beaded loop and a ball that fits inside it. I used somewhat elastic thread, which allows the clasp to stay firm but in retrospect causes some difficulties with keeping the consistancy of the beading across the band itself.
I'm starting off this craft blog to archive some of the creations I have made in the last few years, and also to keep track of any existing projects I get enthused by. I will also include any links to interesting craft items I discover.
