This pattern was designed to feature metallic yarn (or other specialty fibres) without the commitment of a full garment. The delicacy of the metallic yarn will affect the durability of the project for every-day wear, but will also produce an individual creation depending on the yarn combinations chosen, like a small work of art.
The gloves are knit from the bottom up, in three sections. The first and third sections involve creating two layers for a shadowed appearance; the middle section involves a cable on the back of the hand creating a vignette effect. This pattern is rated as challenging - due to the nature of the delicate yarn, and the fiddly-ness of having two magic loops available simultaneously.

Many thanks to all those who have taken the time to upload or email photos of their creations. It's a lovely way to finish Matt Smith's era, with an army of crocheted Doctors protecting the universe with woolly mops and fezzes. I've loved seeing all the other non-Eleventh Doctor characters people have created also.

Update June 2015 - Peter Capaldi and War Doctor have now been included in the pattern.

I have rewritten and combined the existing mini doctor patterns into one, and added the missing Doctors 2, 6, 7 and 8 :)
The pattern now contains a basic crochet pattern for the body, followed by an embellishments section for each Doctor.
Thank you to those who gave permission for images and advice to be used - it made this possible :)

I have also hopefully made the copyright notice more clear on the patterns than it was initially, so if you were unsure, please read this post to find out more.
The BBC has made its position known in respect to commercial selling of creations based on their trademarks. They are generally happy for people to make items for themselves and for friends etc., but they are not happy with people using patterns to create items that are going to be sold.
Infringement notices have been issued to remove patterns from which commercial items have been made, so by asking people to keep items made from my Doctor Who patterns non-commercial I am hoping that the patterns will be allowed to stay online for everyone to use. Please help me keep these patterns available by respecting the terms.

For all the knitters who have been missing out on the Doctor Who love, here is my Big and Cuddly pattern converted into knitting ^_^ enjoy!
This is certainly not the most elegant knitting pattern, having been converted from crochet, but it worked surprisingly well. I still encourage all those knitters who haven't yet picked up a hook to try it, because crochet really is best for certain purposes.
Pattern includes instructions for both knitting flat / knitting in the round
So beginners can have a go too. I hope to see lots of knitted characters spring up, like all the wonderful crochet creations out there. View this pattern on Ravelry

Flip top mitts featuring Matt Smith’s bowtie and favourite fez. This pattern idea to me in a flash and it made me laugh, so I just had to write it up - I hope you laugh too! Mitts flip towards front of hand & fasten with buttons so as not to obscure bowtie ^_^ enjoy!

I just wanted to let you know that I've added an option to this pattern for knitting the gloves in the round. I always prefer to knit in the round because then there's no seaming. There's also some improved images of cables and some general cleaning up of the pattern.

Just got my first Shunklies batt completey spun up ^_^ Turned out to be about 180 meters which will be enough to let me do something fun.
Just unplaited and started on the second colour - but realised I need to decide first on whether I want to keep these as singles or ply them up (so the spin ends up the correct way)... My handspun is not that even yet, but they do look pretty as singles. Any thoughts?

It's way too late and I'm playing in a netball final tomorrow so need to go to bed - but am so happy to have this finished :D
Needles: 4.5mm needles, and a cable needle (or crochet hook)
Difficulty: 3/10
Stitches needed: knit, purl, dec knitwise, dec purlwise, knit into the back of a stitch, simple cables

These are my newest Mobius Mittens ^_^
I received a sample pack of Tarndwarncoort yarns and thought the aqua hand dyed Polwarth yarn would make a lovely feature on these grey and teal gloves. I will probably be making a few more pairs with this design
The Mobius Mitts pattern has been tweaked again to make the increasing instructions a little more clear (download PDF). I am also planning another small update in the next few days to show how you are able to have the gloves slopping in opposite directions (as below) rather than the same direction as the pattern currently instructs. So check back if you are interested in this

Finally Jack won't be lonely! Took me a little one to write this one up as I didn't take very accurate notes when making his vest, but he's here at last :)
Make your own cuddly Torchwood pair Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones) and John Barrowman (Jack Harkness). These easy to crochet plushies are perfect to snuggle up to while watching Torchwood and Doctor Who :p Ianto's smile is very hard to pull off with yarn, so am looking forward to any other plushies people create!
