Circular needles are the best! If I had enough I would use them for all my projects! I love them so much I am going to devote this post to them :)

For those who haven't used circular needles, they consist of two short needles connected by a long plastic cord. You can get different sizes and lengths of cord.

Reasons I love them:

1) No seams!

2) You can use them circularly or as super-long normal needles (just knit back and forth)

3) The actual needles (excluding the cord) are really short, so when knitting you don't stab other commuters with the end of your needles

4) When putting knitting into your bag you can slide all your work onto to the centre cord and know nothing will fall off your needles when travelling

5) Impossible to drop (and lose) a needle as long as you are holding on to some part of your knitting

6) You can use the magic loop technique to avoid the pain of knitting with 4 needles

7) You can use them for any length knitting project

8) The process of knitting with them looks unusual :)

Had made quite a few David Tennant plushies recently, but wanted to have a break and make something different. So here he is:

"Run as if something very nasty were after you, because something very nasty will be after you"

If you can crochet and want to have a go at making your own just download the pattern from the patterns page.

Today I also finished my Talia vest :D The largest pattern I had ever attempted- I am very happy with how it turned out. Will post up some photos soon.

Now I've finally given my Christmas gifts, I can post them up here without fear of spoiling surprises :)

I knitted this pink and purple 'Dugong pretending to be a Shark' for my cousin. If you would like to make your own the pattern is available for purchase free from my patterns page or from Ravelry.

I made a circular scarf for my mum. Emily Kausalik’s pattern is a free download from Ravelry. An interesting fact about this project is that this yarn is partly made from milk!

I knitted this Rabbit Tracks scarf for my aunt. Pattern is available here (no login needed), and it looks quite different with thicker wool

These are the crochet fingerless gloves I made for my partner's mum :) I’ll be writing up the pattern soon

as well as these sets of crochet fingerless gloves for housemates. They gave me the wool for my birthday earlier in the year.

I'll also be making some more Doctor plushies in the next few days for orders. Please contact me if you'd like to request one.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas!

It has been a productive weekend so far.

I wanted to test my hippo pattern so i started making one out of pink wool - but it seems he has turned into a pig! Then I made him a removeable hat to go between his ears :)

And here is his story:
Piggle the Cowboy hails from the Wild West. He is tough and strong and always gets his way. With his daunting blue cowboy hat, and threateningly fuzzy tail, any saloon will go silent at the mere sight of him.

I have just made the pattern available in here if you would like to make one for yourself or for a friend.

ohh and the hat is removable of course :)

Enjoy :)

Well here is my latest creation, Henry the Dugong. I am finally getting around to blogging about him.

Henry is named after Henry Tilney from Austen's Northanger Abbey (there is somewhat of a tradition of naming soft toys after Austen men in our share-house). We currently have Bingley the Sheep and Darcy the heart-shaped-pillow.

Anyway here he is:

And here is his story:
Henry the Dugong has lived a happy life floating on the tides and whiffling the sea grass around his blue home. But lately he has been dreaming of adventure. If only he was as swift and strong as a shark...

Using some splinters of wood found in a sunken ship, Henry quickly knitted up a jumper for himself, attaching a beautifully sculpted fin to the top so that anyone who saw him coming in the murky waters would think he was a shark!"

I will be making the pattern available in my etsy shop  free if anyone is interested in making one for yourself.

Oh, and the fin is removable so that if he gets to scary as a shark you can take it off and he will be a normal dugong again :)

A plushie Henry is available on etsy here :)

My newest project is a 'Dugong pretending to be a shark'. I have so far created two dugongs and am working on the fins to go on top!

I am writing up this one as a pattern as I go, he should be a quick, fun knit. I will probably add it to Etsy when it is done ^.^ (download free PDF). Perhaps I will also have a go at selling the blue dugong on Etsy, once I have got over my fear of postage!

Have finally got myself around to creating a pattern to sell on Etsy. Very excited, and even if it doesn't get sold, it was fun to create a permanent pattern for my creation Fuzzy Hippo on Etsy

Pattern can be purchased downloaded free from the patterns page

This little guy was created for my friend’s birthday. The design was based on his performance character ‘Eaton Fudge’. He is about 15cm tall as far as I can remember.

He was quite fun to create because I had to make him in such a short space of time. His jacket failed the first time, ending up too bulky, but then I re-did it and it worked out quite nicely.

My favourite part to do was the hat. I wish I had kept a record of the pattern for this one :)

I knitted this hippo for a friend's baby to give at the engagement party. Got started a bit late and began knitting friday after work, and knitted right through until I was stepping off the train to her house. Will upload the pattern for it soon.

Update: buy pattern from the patterns page
