My first ever pair of knitted socks :) Never thought I'd knit socks as they seemed... hmm... boring - but it was great to do and I hope my mum likes them :)
I can't say I found sock knitting thrilling, but learning how to turn the heel was useful and while they didn't come out perfect they at least seemed comfy. I loved the lace part of these and am inspired to doing some more lace projects in future.
They are knitted from Suzi Anvin's free Blackrose pattern (Rav link). I had trouble with the instructions for turning the heel but this might be due to my own lack of knowledge on what I was aiming for.
Speaking of Christmas gifts - I love Kim's gifted Cactus Garden ^_^ so much safer than a real one!

A couple of treasuries I forgot to mention earlier - Thanks to the list creators :)
Eep! what an awesome xmas night! Got to play with a spinning wheel for the first time! What a lovely relaxed celebration with way too much food and lots of yarny goodness
This 2 ply purply stuff was made using my drop spindle (yay!) but the blue bamboo below was done on the wheel my friend has borrowed - how exciting ^_^ Her evil plan to make me want a wheel by borrowing one herself has worked!
Visited a lovely shop in Beachworth called the Ardent Alpaca which had lots of yarn and wonderful fuzzy rugs. Somehow managed not to buy any yarn there - I'm way too good at not buying anything
Apologies to those not interested in my spinning adventures, there will be some more knitted/crocheted goodness to come :) Looking forward to the new Dr Who later tonight ^_^

Birthday boy has headed off to parents place for xmas lunch - I'm waiting around here for my own parents to arrive to start off the xmas celebrations - so thought I'd post a few pics
After the 5 hour bus/train trip from Beachworth the other day I'm needing a little break from knitting so have been playing with my drop spindle and dyes. Here's my latest :)
Planning to make these singles into 2ply - I think I'm getting a little better
Got The Fry Chronicles for xmas ^_^ so will go listen to him as I wait for peeps to arrive :)

Hi everyone,
Has been a lovely sunny Saturday here in Melbourne - after a late night Harry Potter viewing yesterday I've achieved a few things
The 3rd 'draft' of creating knitted Mobius Mitts is going well - and I am half way through the 4th, working on pulling in the sts at the inside of the wrist to make a less bulky fold (how awesome is the Bendigo wool!)
Have decided that these will be knit flat so that beginners will also be able to give them ago without dealing with tricky mobius cast ons
During the week I also finally finished the rug I started in the early days of this blog - decided to just leave it at this small size as granny squares are really not for me! But it's nice to have it done :)
For the last months I have also been listening to lots of knitting podcasts but will dedicate some info on them to another post :)

Thanks to fosterbk for this collection :)
First I wanted to show you the sample I have knitted thrice so far for converting my crochet Mobius Mitts pattern into a knitted version. It has been fun to design for the challenge of it needing to be reversible - so I went with a 2x2 rib with two reversible cablesI also wanted to make sure it was an easy pattern so have decided to knit it flat, which is thrice as less fun than round and round the mobius loop but will make it a lot more possible for beginner knitters and hopefully still look interesting.
Also just needed to praise Bendigo Woollen Mills for being thrice as awesome as the basic yarn shops here, beautiful yarn, great value and for shipping my wool so fast that it arrived within 2 days of the order! 8ply Midnight Tweed and 12ply Red Tweed show below ^_^

Had some fun with dye this weekend ^_^ It was raining most of Saturday so was the perfect excuse to get some crafting done. After the happy colours my first handspun absorbed last week...
I wanted to do some more dying but didn't have time to to do the spinning to create the yarn. My grandma had given me some of her stash and as I was washing it and adding it to ravelry I realised that the fluoro pink would be perfect for combining with the dye colours I currently own
Love how it turned out (just by adding blue!) and wish it would dry faster! I don't knit with 4 ply much though so I'm not sure what I'll be doing with this. Will need some experimenting :)
I also finished off quite a few other projects this weekend - will show you a couple of them for now:
Miss Scarlet Cloche
(have been listening to too many Phryne Fisher mysteries
Large Mobius Mitts
I have very small hands and felt it was about time I made some larger ones available :)

Hi everyone - I'm back from my Cairns adventure very sunburnt and a little starved of knitting
We did lots of awesome beaching, built some sandcastle forts and while spending a day snorkling off Green Island this lovely turtle came to munch its lunch just below us! Tim managed to get this pic with the underwater camera ^_^
Before this trip I thought nothing would stop me from knitting but I discovered that 35 deg humid heat really makes it impossible. I had some lovely cotton yarn with me but even that only got worked with on the plane flights. But it was probably good for me to take a break and rest my eyes and brainHave made up for this on my return by finally getting around to trying out some dying on my first ever handspun wool. It's pretty messy and uneven but I'm still very proud and can't wait to knit itI got my drop spindle from silversunalpacas which makes me drool over their delicious colours
Thanks to all those who bought patterns while I was away, was actually the most busy week of sales ever for me, thank goodness for wireless hotspots :p
