Free crochet TARDIS pattern
Thursday, September 24, 2009I decided the photography of my mini Doctors would not be complete without a TARDIS, so I am providing a free crochet TARDIS pattern/tutorial for anyone who would like to have their own.
(A crocheted light has also been added to the top of the TARDIS, read about the update here)
I am working hard on my patterns for the Doctors, and hope to have a few of them finished soon :) If you do make your own TARDIS I would love to see how it turns out!!
Enjoy!

I am confused by round 8.
ReplyDelete"Round 8 - sc into the stitch in the round below,
repeat around= 54 (see image to right)"
Wouldn't that make the tardis inside out?
Hi Makayla,
ReplyDeleteWorking an sc into the row below is also called 'front post single crochet' (FPSC), and in this pattern it just creates a raised ridge, which defines the end of the Tardis top. It shouldn't turn your Tardis inside out etc.
In case useful, this video shows how to do the stitch:

Maybe have a go at rows 8-11, and then hopefully you'll see how it creates the right shape.
Hope this helps,
Happy crocheting!
Wouldn't it be a back post single crochet? Or do you turn the work before round 8?
ReplyDeleteHi Makayla,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for following this up - it prompted me to re-look at the pattern. You're completely right.
I've updated the pattern now to suggest sc-ing into the inside loop (rather than the FPSC). This is more appropriate for a beginner pattern anyway, I would imagine.
This pattern was one of my first, written back in 2009. The thing that amazes me is that there's many Ravelry projects but no-one had commented on this - so thank you! Very much appreciated. Apologies for holding up your project while it was resolved.
:)
